Hema Shrestha is a popular name in modeling. The debut movie of Hema Shrestha, ‘Sourya’ was released a while ago. Although it was released recently, the shooting of the movie was done five years ago. Hema has recently completed the shooting of her upcoming movie ‘Hasiya’. The movie also features hot item dance of the actress. Another actress, Priyanka Karki is also featured in the item song. -


Hema participated in Miss Nepal contest in 2005. Hema’s music video ‘Chiya Bari Ma…’ became very popular and established her in music video modeling. Although she had always wanted to act in movie, she couldn’t get the opportunity in a good movie. A martial arts player, Hema wanted a role of a modern girl that was bold and beautiful. Hema says, the wait is over and she has found the role she had always wanted to do.


The offer to do ‘Hasiya’ came when she was doing a music video ‘Sayau Juni …’ of singers Jagadesh Samal and Rajina Rimal. The director of the video, Milan Chams told Hema about his upcoming movie. The movie ‘Hasiya’ features the lead actress in action and glamor role.

Suvekshya Thapa’s desperate promotion of Miss Nepal, topless photo only a part

Actress Suvekshya Thapa has been trying desperately to create a controversy out of her upcoming movie ‘Miss Nepal’ and the recent topless photo is told to be only a part of it. In response to the vulgar nature of the photo, Suvekshya had told that the photo was taken according to the storyline of the movie. But, the photo style is far from being original. The following photo of Bollywood actress Sherlyn Chopra shows where the Miss Nepal producer got the idea.

The censor board of Nepal has always objected such type of posters. In case of ‘Chapali Height‘ the film makers were forced to paint the posters to make it look like clothes. With this fact, it is clear that Suvekshya is doing these propaganda only for the promotion of the movie.


‘Miss Nepal’ is Suvekshya’s home production and she is featured as one of the contest winners. It is to be noted that Suvekshya’s daughter is old enough to be eligible to participate in the contest – only open to unmarried girls.

Dr Eric Gokcen, the hospital's medical director, said: "It was something I had never seen before. A parasitic twin is actually rarer than conjoined twins. But as a physician, when I look at patients with a problem, my mind starts thinking about what I am going to do to help them." In an eight-hour surgery, the team carefully removed the outer body but left the extra internal organs because they were working fine. Workitu spent the next three months in hospital but healed perfectly and is now looking forward to her future. Producer to release in Dubai, prior to Nepal release

Nepali movie ‘Producer’ is going to release in Dubai before it is released in Nepal on Magh 17 (January 31, 2014). The movie will run for a month in Dubai for Nepali people living in the capital of UAE. According to the producer Jyotiraj Rai, the movie will be released with the help of the non-resident Nepali.

‘Producer’ is a comedy movie made on the insider’s story of the Nepali film industry. The movie features well known Nepali actors like Wilson Bikram Rai, Baboo Bogati, Sweta Bhattarai, Payal Rayamajhi and others. The movie is directed by Janakdeep Parajuli.
The news about the UAE release was given by the producer Janak Deep in a press meet held in Dharan. The promotion of the movie is currently going on in the Eastern Nepal.

Biteka Pal to premier in US on January 8

The movie to release in theaters all over Nepal on January 10, ‘Biteka Pal’  is going to be premiered in the USA on January 8. Dreams Entertainmetn is planning to screen the movie in St. Louis. The executive producer, Krish Rijal will be present in the premier ceremony.

After the premier, the movie will also be screened in other cites of the USA and Canada. Krish Rijal is coordinating the movie screening in US and Canada according to the demand of the local residents.


The movie is told to be made on a real story. Directed by well known director Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’, the movie features Keki Adhikari, Baboo Bogati, and Abnisash Gurung in leading roles. The movie produced by Rajesh Ghatani was premiered in Nepal on December 28. On the suggestion of the audience, the film maker have decided to make the movie better by trimming the unnecessary scenes of up to 20 minutes

Big films testing their luck this Friday

After a couple of weeks without any new releases, Nepali film makers are releasing four new movies on January 10. At least, three out of the four movies are considered big names in the Nepali movie industry.


The movie ‘Biteka Pal’ by noted director of successful movies like ‘Bato Muniko Phool’ and ‘Sayaad’, Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ is known to make good movies. Although his last movie ‘Facebook’ didn’t do well, the current release has created a buzz before the release. In addition to a good director, the movie also features new and talented actors like Keki Adhikari and Baboo Bogati in leading roles. Keki Adhikari was highly appreciated by the audience during the premier show of the movie on the last week of 2013. The songs of the movie are also liked by the public.


Another movie ’6 Ekan 6′ features well known comedy actors of television serials. The movie is also promoted heavily in television and on street. The viewers have high hopes from the comedy movie. The movie features Neeta Dhungana, Deepak Raj Giri, Shiva Hari Poudel, Kedar Ghimire, Sitaram Kattel, Jitu Nepal and Sanjeev Chhetri in main roles.  The actors are the leading actors of the popular comedy serials ‘Tito Satya’, ‘Jire Khursani’ and ‘Meri Bassai’. If the director Dinesh DC has done a good job, the movie should be a collection of cream talents in Nepali comedy artists.

The movie of late director Shiva Regmi, ‘Parai’ is also expected to attract viewers because of the sentiment of the death of the director. The movie features Gobinda Shahi, Niraj Baral, Nandita KC and Garima Pant in main roles. The director is known to make good movie and the artists are also well known artists, liked by viewers.

Uday Subba’s ‘Yoddha’ features Rajesh Hamal, Subash Meche, Jharana Thapa, Sunil Thapa, Dinesh Sharma etc. in main roles. The movie is targeted to single screen audience. There are some Nepali movie viewers who consider this movie only because of the star power of Rajesh Hamal and Jharana Thapa.

All four movies have good potential to be successful. But, the viewers of Nepali movies are limited and they also have to be divided into four movies. So, there is a high chance that none of the movies become as successful as expected.

Based on the initial response in media, we believe, at least three of them would have done good business if they were solo releases. We would need to wait for a couple of days before the fate of the movies are determined.

November Rain release date delayed to March 28

The release date of ‘November Rain’ has been delayed from the previously announced Valentine Day release. The movie marks the debut of actor Aryan Sigdel as a producer and features Aryan, Namrata Shrestha and Chhulthim Gurung in lead roles. The movie is directed by Dinesh Raut.

The new release date is set to Chaitra 14 (March 28, 2014). No other movies are scheduled to release on the date while ‘Divorce’ is scheduled to release the next week (April 4); two movies – ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2′ and ‘Adhi Bato’ are scheduled to release a week after, on April 11. Aryan is said to be working on making the movie a solo release on the day.

Good opening of 6 Ekan 6 and Biteka Pal

Aggressive promotion of ’6 Ekan 6′ has paid off – causing houseful occupancy of the movie on it’s release day. The success however will depend on the mouth publicity. The initial response of the viewers are generally positive.

One of the producers, Deepa Shree Niraula expressed her happiness on the success of the movie. The turnover of the viewers to theater is told to be like that of ‘Kali‘. Dinesh DC‘s direction, ’6 Ekan 6′ features six comedy actors – Deepak Raj Giri, Sitaram kattel (Dhurmus), Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha), Shiva Hari Poudel (Mukhan Hannu Jasto), Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Sandeep Chhetri and actress Neeta Dhungana in leading roles.


‘Biteka Pal’ producer Rajesh Ghatani also expressed his satisfaction on the viewers on the first day of screening. Rajesh claimed that the viewers will increase as the mouth publicity effect takes over. He expects the movie to take over after Sunday. The movie directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ features Keki Adhikari, Baboo Bogati and Abinash Ghising in lead roles.



The opening of two other movies, ‘Yoddha’ and ‘Parai’ were not that impressive. According to a report two shows of ‘Parai’ at Big Movies and F Cube were canceled because of the lack of viewers.

This was a tough opening of the movies released this week because of the competition among four movies.

Lazza actress Shilpa Pokharel imitates Rekha Thapa

Rates of Nepali actresses in foreign stage shows

These days Nepali actresses had been busier in stage shows in foreign countries than working in movies. At the time when movies have failed in gaining viewers, film makers haven’t been able to afford established actresses. The actresses have found stage shows more profitable than movies. -


An online magazine Filmykhabar, has compiled the rates of Nepali actresses for the stage shows in foreign countries. The well known actresses like Rekha Thapa charges Rs. 150,000 to Rs. 200,000 per show. Actor Rajesh Hamal also charges similar amount. Actress Karishma Manandhar and Jharana Thapa charge Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 150,000 per show.


Other actresses like Sushma Karki, Sumina Ghimire and Nandita KC charge Rs. 70,000 to 80,000 per show.

Jharana Thapa has recently returned after the completion of her 3-months long Europe tour. Nandita KC is currently in Hong Kong. Neeta Dhungana, Sushma Karki and Anu Shah are planning to go in foreign programs. Karishma Manandhar had gone to Qatar and Hong Kong. Poojana Pradhan had also visited Hong Kong recently. Actress Rejina Upreti is seen in UK quite often. Comedy artists of popular tele-serials are also very liked by the Nepali living in foreign soil.

Mrs. Universe to crown Mrs. Nepal 2014, to be held in February

The winner of Mrs. Universe 2013, Carol Lee, is scheduled to crown the winner of this year’s Mrs. Nepal. The title this year will be called Mrs. Universe Nepal 2014. The winner of the title will represent Nepal in Mrs. Universe contest.

The beauty contest among married women aged between 21 to 55, will be held on February 22, 2013. Mrs. Universe Lee will arrive in Kathmandu on February 20 for a three day long stay in Nepal.  Apart from winning Mrs. Universe, Lee had also won Mrs. Popular Special Award.


The winner of Mrs. Universe Nepal will get an opportunity to participate and show her talent in an international platform. The winner will also be appointed the goodwill ambassador for Seven Nepal and Rakshya Nepal, a NGO working for children education and health sector. Winner will also be involved in various charity event and other social works.

This year, a beautician and a popular actress featured as fake Hisila Yami in the comedy serial ‘Tito Satya‘, Bipana Basnet, is also going to participate in the contest. According to a report, Bipana Basnet is preparing for the audition.

Prakash Ojha debut movie as a director, Traash releasing on January 3

After two weeks of no-release of Nepali movies, a thriller comedy movie ‘Trash’ is going to release in theater this Friday on January 3, 2014.

Update, in a short audio clip the director Prakash Ojha explains what the movie is all about:
The movie directed by comedy singer Prakash Ojha features Nirajan Luitel, Ayub KC, Anu Shah, Riya Shrestha and others. The movie will release in theaters all over Nepal. The lead actor Nirajan is the younger brother of actor Jiwan Luitel. The movie will also have an special appearance of Jharana Thapa.

Although the director Prakash Ojha is an actor and a good singer, he won’t be seen in the movie. Talking about the songs, Prakhash has only sung two lines in one of the songs.

The movie was was made a few years ago but, it wasn’t publicized much. The movie features the camera of Roshan Shrestha. The script and dialogue is written by Maunata Shrestha. The editing is done by Himal Joshi, action by Pradeep Khadka and choreography of Poonam Rai.

Aryan Sigdel to do become a gangster in Naaike

Director from Pokhara, Netra Gurung, has announced his new movie ‘Naaike’ during a press meet organized in Pokhara. The leas actor of the movie will be Aryan Sigdel, who will be featured as the leader of a gang. The actress of the movie is yet to be finalized. Other actors in the movie include Rem BK and Bodhraj Regmi.

The movie ‘Naaike’ is going to be made on a story of gangster and is being produced by Jagdish Khanal, Anandsharan Chhetri, Narayan Khanal, Sangita Parjuli and Resha Gurung. The executive producer is Bishnu Hamal and the banner is The Black Shadow. The director Gurung has also written the story of the movie.


The shooting of the movie is expected to start in a few days. The shooting will be done in various locations in and around Pokhara.

Namrata Shrestha to writing a movie, planning to direct it herself

One of the versatile actresses of Nepali movie industry, Namrata Shrestha, is writing the story of a movie. The model turned actress is a very good actress and dancer is known to work in movies that have stories that appeal to her.

According to an online magazine, Namrata has finished writing the first few chapters. Apart from being the writer of the movie, she is also planning on testing her directorial skills in the movie. It seems to be shaping up, to be a complete Namrata Shrestha movie with writing, direction and acting. The desire to direct  movie came from the fact that her some of her friends have already started film direction. But, she is willing to wait a while and establish herself in the acting career.


Before jumping in film making Namrata is studying the trends of movie and the progress it is doing. She is planning to take a few years in writing scripts and then start the actual production. So, it seems we need to wait a while before we can see a complete Namrata Shrestha movie.

This is not the first time an actress has written story in movies. Last time, actress Arunima Lamsal had written the script of ‘Deep Shikha’. It’s another story, the movie was a flop, and sent the writer Arunima Lamsal to rest. Arunima also took a break from acting when she decided to give birth to her daughter.

Rajesh Hamal proved his talent in Court Martial, it earned record breaking 15 lakhs in 32 days

At the time when movies haven’t been able to recover their investments and a theater play has managed to earn 15 lakh in 32 days. The play titled ‘Court Martial’ is directed by Anup Baral and the main actor of the play is the superstar of Nepali movies, Rajesh Hamal. The play also features the well known actors like Dayahang Rai, Subash Thapa and Diya Maskey.

Nepali actress Karishma Manandhar has stated that a lot of friend requests were sent from her Facebook account without her knowledge -

Karishma expressed her surprise on such activities in her account. It is likely that the password of her account was compromised. It seems, the issue has gotten complicated and Karishma has decided to take the account offline. As of the time of this writing, Karishma’s account is not available.

Traash’ actresses Anu Shah and Reeya Shrestha didn’t talk during the shooting -

The movie released today, on January 3, ‘Traash’ was not an easy task for the director Prakash Ojha because of the misunderstanding between the two actresses. The actresses Anu Shah and Reeya Shrestha didn’t talk and wouldn’t shoot together during the shooting of the movie. -

According to a report, the actresses stopped talking to each other after the start of the shooting. The director had to take separate takes for the two actresses. The reason of the complication wasn’t known to anybody except the two actresses.

The initial reports of the movie aren’t that exciting.

Jiya KC claims of not doing vulgar movies

Jiya’s movie ‘ATM’ faced a tough time since the release of it’s trailer. The censor board rejected the majority of the movie and it had to be reshot. On release, the movie was banned from theater and later re-released when the court allowed it to release in theaters. After that, she had done other controversial movies like ‘Barbad’ and ‘Ring Road’. -



Most of Jiya’s movies were awarded ‘A’ certificates – suitable for the viewers older than 16-years-old. Jiya has claimed that she was wearing the dresses of current generation. But, she didn’t talk about the explicit dialogues in the movies. -
